What is it with garages?
Last year I took my car for an MOT. I sat in a grotty room for an hour whilst I waited for my car to be ready. I was ignored by everyone and the mechanics (who were all men) scratched themselves and swore like troopers.
This year I decided that I would take my husband with me. As we walked in, the owner (who my husband knows) came and greeted us, took us into the waiting room and was very friendly. We sat for about 10 minutes and were then offered tea or coffee. There was a tv on the wall and were told that we could change the channels and find something that we wanted to watch and the owner even pulled down the blind on the window so that there was no reflection on the tv.
When the car was ready, the guy who was in charge of issuing the certificates and invoices said to my husband "Excuse me Sir, your car has failed its MOT and needs some repairs, what would you like us to do?" .... hang on a minute, the invoice was in my name, the number plate on the car is my name, he saw me drive in and I gave him the key... am I invisible???
Because I am female does it mean that I dont have many brain cells and you have to speak to me in words of one syllable or less??
Why is it that when it comes to cars and other men dominated industries do they treat women as second class citizens?
Come on, wake up. Its 2010 and not 1910. I deal with all the bills and payments in our household, so it is about time that some men give a little bit more credit to the female population, cos one day Sonny Jim you may get married to "one of us, females" and all I can say is god help you !
